Cord Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga still leads in the presidential race with 46% approval according to the just released Ipsos Synovate poll.The ODM leader has improved by 12% from the last poll released in December with 34%. Infotrak poll released recently showed Raila was leading with 51%.

Jubilee presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta has the largest following on Social Media closely followed by Narc Kenya presidential hopeful Martha Karua. At the third place is Eagle Alliance Peter Kenneth while Raila Odinga of Cord comes fourth.

Uhuru Kenyatta has 330,000 likes on his Facebook page and 92,000 followers on Twitter. In total Uhuru has about 430,000 followers on Social Media. But it should be noted that most social media users may follow a candidate both on Twitter and still like their page on Facebook.

The Media Council of Kenya,the government watchdog that oversee the watchful media has released a terse statement castigating the Star newspaper for publishing a photo of a woman and her one year old daughter felled in a field by raiders at Kibusu village in Tana River.

Adherence to Journalism Ethics: Intrusion into Grief

The Media Council of Kenya expresses our displeasure with the blatant  contravention of the Media Act Cap 411B and in particular the Code of Conduct for the Practice of Journalism by the Star.

The newspaper’s lead photo in the 11th January 2013 edition was grossly insensitive, unprofessional and an open disregard for journalistic ethics and  human rights.

Rift Valley PPO John M’mbijiwe is among those who were axed. The PPO has been photographed several time with the imposter Joshua Waiganjo.
